Dr. Chris Mathews is a highly esteemed optometrist who was born and raised in Madison, Indiana. He embarked on his academic journey at Purdue University, where he majored in biology and graduated magna cum laude, showcasing his outstanding dedication to his studies. Dr. Mathews continued his pursuit of excellence at the University of Houston College of Optometry, where he graduated second in his class, also earning summa cum laude honors.
During his fourth year, Dr. Mathews completed a contact lens and cornea rotation at Family Vision Solutions. While there, Dr. Mathews trained under excellent attending physicians and gained valuable experience diagnosing rare corneal conditions and restoring their vision with specialty contact lenses. From there, he moved to Salt Lake City and worked at the Department of Veteran Affairs which is a notoriously high-volume medical facility. All of those experiences helped set the stage for an extremely successful career in eye care.
For the past seven years, Dr. Mathews has been thriving in private practice, committed to providing exemplary eye care services to his patients. In 2019, Dr. Mathews was recognized as one of the top 40 professionals under the age of 40 by the Baytown Sun newspaper. Outside of his professional endeavors, he was a standout soccer player in high school and served as the vice president of the boxing club at Purdue University, highlighting his athletic prowess and leadership abilities.
In addition to his professional and athletic achievements, Dr. Mathews is passionate about all styles of music, which reflects his vibrant personality and love for the arts. He is continually curious as he is constantly listening to a podcast about various topics including: human performance, financial literacy, or the future of science and medicine. He enjoys life with his wife, Brittany, whom he married in the fall of 2023, and their playful Siberian husky, Loki, who adds joy and companionship to their home.
